A dangerous little documentary from Prague, Czech Republic. Two final year film students receive a reasonable sum to conduct their collaborative University project. They decide to fully commit to creating a fake marketing campaign for a fictitious “hypermarket”.
After telling the local public not to come to the hypermarket’s launch by flyer, radio, television, a buzz is quickly created about the new hypermarket.
A cynic might highlight how easy it is to highlight the consumerism of a small pocket of any society/country by using proven advertising techniques in a very negative fashion. However, the intricacies of this documentary are what makes this worth watching. It’s like being taken on a journey by two hapless leaders who are both unknown of their plan for their “business” or their documentary, or at least seemingly so!
